A DIVE INTO AMORES PERROS
Alejandro González Iñárritu
Alejandro González Iñárritu is a critically acclaimed Mexican filmmaker. Born in 1963 to a professional class family before settling into his own working-class job as a dockworker. at 18, he traveled the world, the event he cites as being what got him into the idea of filmmaking. Since getting involved with film-making, Iñárritu has made a number of critical and box office hits such as: Amores Perros (2000), 21 Grams (2003), Babel (2006), Birdman (2014), and The Revenant (2015) just to name some of the larger works.
A black spot on Iñárritu's record is his support of the 2009 petition released in support of Roman Polanski, a known sex criminal in Hollywood. Although this is a significant detriment to his historical record, the power and significance of his work stand apart due to its quality and the separation between subject matters.
Awards:
Iñárritu is not only a prolific director but a highly critically successful one boasting a wide array of career-spanning awards both in America and internationally.
